Immersing one’s self in the things that make you who you are is a task easier said than done. Nashville based artist Sam Johnston has learned this to the fullest extent in the process of creating his debut full length album “Cannonball.”
An accomplished artist who has shared the stage with acts such as Colony House, KINGFISH, 3OH!3, Bowling for Soup, Smooth Hound Smith, Bryce Fox, and more, Sam Johnston climbs out of quarantine with an album that tells stories of loves lost and gained. This album paints a picture of a songwriter on the road to discovering who he is.
“Cannonball” was produced by Drew Long (Judah & the Lion, Betcha, Kris Allen, etc.) The project is a slight pivot from Sam’s debut project which ran blues rock and received editorial placements from Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, and more as well as charted at #2 on the iTunes blues charts (and has since charted in 19 other countries on both iTunes and Apple Music.)
Alongside producer Drew Long, Johnston has created an album that borrows from influences such as Alabama Shakes, The War on Drugs, Tame Impala, and Dawes. Embracing change, “Cannonball” is a full splash into Sam Johnston’s debut album.
During the pandemic, Sam has been writing with signed writers from Arthouse Entertainment, Demolition Music, Curb Word Publishing, Concord Music Publishing, Jonas Group Publishing, Warner Chappell Music, and more.
